The Methodical Chef
Project The Methodical Chef
Location Bristol
The Methodical Chef, the passion project of Ben Lark, a promising young chef who has risen through the ranks of Bristol’s food scene.
With experience in multiple restaurants, The Methodical Chef was created as a blog dedicated to sharing & exploring the joys of food.
The name started as an inside joke between chefs within Ben’s brigade, often poking fun at his lack of compromise toward excellence during dinner service.

Capturing Character
Whilst behind the camera, it was important not only to show Ben’s process, but draw emphasis on how his passions have shaped his character.
When looking closer, you will discover a collection of tattoos paying homage to food, music and skateboard culture.

Persistent Practice
Ben’s love of food follows him where ever he chooses to go. Whether it’s catching a bite to eat after sessioning a local skate spot or simply searching for inspiration for new dishes, there is always a sense of excitement and anticipation in his voice.
During this visit, Ben explained how he hadn’t made ravioli for over a week and had really missed the process.

Since visiting in 2017, The Methodical Chef has come to an end.
Ben now focuses his efforts towards his band El Chapo.
You can still find him cooking at Harts Bakery
