RÁS
Project Case Study
Location Cardiff, Pembrokeshire, Newport, Brecon Beacons
RÁS aren’t a coaching service only specialising in endurance events, no, they are a family who want nothing more than to witness you strive.
Whilst in their infancy, RÁS reached out via Instagram to discuss an “upcoming project”. Two cuppas later and we were in the thick of planning our first shoot, with one goal in mind;
Show every aspect of an athletes journey with them. The process, sacrifice, milestones but most of all, the pain faces.
One things for sure, RÁS keep me on my toes with their endeavours. Hanging out of a van, begrudgingly hurled into a skiff or waiting in a storm for a single photo, nothing is ever half baked and its magnificent!

Setting The Tone
Since the brands initial shaping by Designdough, we planned to create atmospheric black and white imagery that would reflect the brand’s aesthetic.

New Perspective
As RÁS evolved and more athletes joined their roster, the photography followed suit. We had outgrown the initial black and white aesthetic. The introduction of colour images to RÁS was decided on unanimously, though the content for imagery still follows the original principles.

Reducing Distractions
Despite adding colour to “hero” images, black and white images still played a huge role in the brands story. Now they are reserved for more intimate moments, thus reducing distraction from the narrative.

Nurturing Nature
The key aspect of any RÁS campaign is capturing the interactions between staff and athletes. Despite choosing breathtaking locations, what makes RÁS imagery different is the portrayal of close knit bonds.

Evolution
RÁS Endurance have grown from a husband and wife duo wearing everyday clothing, to a team of nine with multiple athletes under their care, all sporting RÁS Endurance kit and accessories.

The Long Run
Between us, we have shared many early mornings, weekends away, late nights, a wedding with an interesting start… welcomed children into the world and weathered a pandemic. This was never going to be “just a job”, this a project we’ll still admire in years to follow.
